Christmas Special - 20 Best Pictures of 2013 and Stories Behind Them

I wish you all the very best in this Eve of Christmas. I have finally managed to shortlist 20 pictures I love the most from my own gallery of 2013. It was not an easy task, as I have to go through about 20k (!) pictures and then decide. Some of you may find one or two pictures not of your liking, but these are about some special memories. With these 20 pictures I can go back to some glory moments when I was truly enjoying with my camera. I have tried to note the occassion of those individual photographs as well as why I like it myself, just to add an emotional and personal touch. Enjoy…

Rider to the She - I found this passionate moment while chasing a butterfly by some country-road; I love this angle and the passion of this picture. The pair was moving through the branch actually and somehow I managed to lock the focus and VOILA! (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens)

Eyes on the Fly - Shooting restless creatures especially a fly is always difficult; But this one gave me time, I kept myself getting close with the whole gear, almost not breathing, then found this one on 1:1 with great detail right on its’ eyes. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens)

Before Getting Lost - This frame gave me a poetic appeal, some subjective outlook of life and profession of poor fishermen’s family. I still remember the tranquility of that day in the sea-beach. (Panasonic DMC FZ-28)

Biting Bullet - I found this amazingly pure expression while tracking some fishermen carrying their boat away from sea after a long day. Passionate! (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 45mm f/1.8 Lens)

Charade of Dancers - I love the girl’s eyes and her expression. It reminds me of the serenity of that Rabindrasangeet, playing in background. Really enjoyed their performance. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 45mm f/1.8 Lens)

Seeding - I was able to get this shot while I was chatting with some of my brothers and sisters, rooftop. Just casually shot this, and I like it with the core of my heart. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens)

Tug of War - I found this frame while shooting some model in the mid-sea. The subjective struggle of this fishermen oozing out from this amazing environmental portrait deserves to be in the list. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens)

Shade of Surrealism - This was an experimental shot while trying with some ND filter. The final effect gave this picture some surrealistic subconscious, that has attracted many art-lovers. (Olympus PEN EPM-1 with 14mm Kit lens)

Water Colour - This image has won my heart with its simplicity and colour. it was taken on an empty field, full of rain water and in sunset. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 45mm f/1.8 Lens)

Rising Dreams - This photograph portrays the 'hope’ with a rising sun and some unfinished rail-way construction. I love the silence and static nature of this frame. It always calms me with hope. (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 45mm f/1.8 Lens)

Celestial - This is one of the most favourite of shots of mine. I managed to capture three unique celestial effects in one shot; The moon, stars and a thunderbolt! I mistakenly tilted it a bit, I did not repair it through post-processing. Some beauties are better with its uniqueness, isn’t it?! (Olympus OMD-EM5 and 45mm f/1.8 Lens)

Pinked - I love this graphic picture. It has some innocense and some beauty I cannnot express in words. Though, I may sound cheap, It reminds me of Love! (Olympus OMD-EM5 with 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens)
